Read information about the authorJoschua von Beres (Joschua Kristofer Harvey-Beres) is a Texas native of French-Creole, Irish, French-Canadian, Slavic, Native American, English and German ancestry. He is a polyglot and speaks Russian, Spanish, French and German. In addition to ongoing studies in Mandarin and Dutch, von Beres created a conlang as a teenager called Romanç (Romansk) based on Latin, Romanian and Russian.
He attended Texas State University where among other things, he organized Occupy Texas State during the Occupy Wall Street Movement.
von Beres has previously been published in Bohemia Literary and Art Journal, Every Day Fiction, The Kitchen Poet by UndergroundBooks, Literary Orphans and has work included in the anthologies Milk and Honey Siren and Rubicon: Words and Art Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s De Profundis.
von Beres’ chapbook Forty-Five Seconds was released in 2014 after which he was invited by Jeremiah Walton to be an editor at Walking Is Still Honest Press. That same year von Beres founded The Literati Quarterly which he retired in 2016 due to military obligations and the death of his significant other.
von Beres is a member of the Poetry Society of America and The Writers Guild of America, West and holds a knighthood from The Principality of Sealand.
His inspirational figures include James Dean, James Franco, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Isaac Kirkman, Sylvia Plath and Dylan Thomas, Oscar Wilde and Michael Allen Zell among others.
von Beres currently studies at The Los Angeles Film School.
