Read full description of the books ドッ＆ドップ 1:After a long hiatus (but still not the longest CLAMP has managed to achieve), Kazahaya and Rikuo are back.
You can actually tell it's been a while, not only because the title changed, but also because the art style is a bit different. Kazahaya and Kakei basically look the same and Saiga just looks only a little less boxy and menacing, but Rikuo's change is pretty noticable. He's still tall, dark and handsome, but he seems less muscular and more slender now. His hair also keeps growing.
The art style in general is still beautiful, though. No backrounds where none need to be, but if there are, they're breath taking as always. Everyone is either cute or beautiful, even splattered with blood.
The plot is starting to crawl towards something big. We start to learn more about Tsukiko and Kei and start to figure out that Kazahaya and Rikuo could be indeed very important people who need to be guided and protected by Kakei and Saiga.
Of course CLAMP couldn't resist doing some crossover stuff once again. I think they're addicted to it by now. It started out as as fun easter eggs years ago, but now I'm starting to worry that at some point one wouldn't get a story by them anymore without having read all the other manga.
Luckily, I of course knew who Watanuki was and wasn't bewildered by the job he had for the boys.
Said job of course gave Rikuo once again the opportunity to hold Kazahaya protectively, which is always welcome.
I feel like they're closer now than they were in Legal Drug. Even Kazahaya's protests seem half hearted now, while Rikuo is in full on "Don't you dare hurt him!" mode as soon as a supernatural being looks at his partner wrong.
Looking forward to finding out if this will actually lead somewhere this time. If we'll ever find out in this lifetime hahahahhaha.

CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.
In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.
