Read full description of the books Plague of the Spanish Lady:There seems to be a sort of collective amnesia about this plague. It's partly due to a tendency to discount the effects of epidemic disease on human societies--but in this case, where there're still a few survivors who remember the plague, it's odd that there's no substantial body of literature about it.
There're thousands of books about WWI--fiction, histories, analysis--but the influenza pandemic that killed at least four times as many people, and may've been instrumental in ending the war, gets, mostly, only a parenthetic mention.
If you want to see how the 'plague of the Spanish Lady' unsettled people's minds, you need look no further than the works of Dorothy L Sayers, where influenza is often a character, though usually as an offstage shadow.
