Devilish is a story that is a departure from the normal focus and detailed research of the author. The book is thoroughly researched as her previous books but the quirky nature of the story may surprise the uninformed fan. I suggest that you don’t let this story pass you up. It is endlessly insightful, and a true delight to read. I can’t believe it took seventeen years for this book to come out. Maybe Lucia Robson just had to wait till society was ready for her to spend their reality. The greatest books in history are based on the writer having the ability suspend belief. This is a great book, humorous, endearing and incisive. Looking into the heart of humanity what desires and needs each man or woman holds dear. Alice Lewis is a character inspired by personal insight, and her knowledgeable salute to Alice in Wonderland. The books leave the reader with enduring images of the counterculture of the late sixties and early seventies, the music, poetry and enduring written history. Alice is a widowed woman, who still is in–love with her first love. She is insightful, and has the knack to bring out the story in those around her. Alice’s ability to research and in fact discover information stem from her writing career. Nick Shea, a straight laced neighborhood policeman following the beat of his detective nature. Nick wants to believe that he can explain everything, but finds there is more than he would believe possible. They are a match made “in the complex reality of life”. This book has great quotes, quirky sidelines, and at the heart a mystery touched by the supernatural. If you haven’t cracked the cover, I would suggest you find a copy as soon as possible.
